OKTRA (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates ClipChap, a macOS application and related online services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ClipChap, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up or sign in, we may collect your email address, authentication identifiers, and profile details you choose to provide. Authentication is handled through our identity provider.

App and usage data

We may collect information about how you use ClipChap, such as feature usage, crash logs, device type, macOS version, app version, and diagnostic data needed to maintain and improve the service.

Content you upload

If you use cloud sync or the content planner, we store video files and related metadata (filenames, sizes, timestamps, scheduling information) on our infrastructure so you can access and publish content across devices and connected services.

Subscription and billing

Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive subscription status and entitlement information from Apple and RevenueCat to unlock paid features. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Local device data

ClipChap reads and writes video files on your Mac according to permissions you grant (for example, Files and Folders, Photos, or Automation access when you use those features). Local editing can occur entirely on your device without uploading source media unless you explicitly use cloud features.

3. How we use information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain ClipChap;
• Authenticate users and secure accounts;
• Sync projects, media, and planner data across services;
• Process subscriptions and enforce plan limits;
• Schedule and deliver posts through connected social integrations;
• Respond to support requests and communicate service updates;
• Detect abuse, fraud, and technical issues;
• Improve performance and develop new features.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on:

• Contract — to deliver the service you requested;
• Legitimate interests — security, analytics, and product improvement, balanced against your rights;
• Consent — where required for optional processing;
• Legal obligation — where we must comply with applicable law.

5. Sharing with third parties

We share data only as needed with service providers that help us run ClipChap, such as:

• Cloud hosting and database providers (e.g. Convex);
• Object storage providers for uploaded media;
• Authentication and identity services;
• Subscription management (RevenueCat, Apple);
• Social publishing integrations you connect;
• Infrastructure, email, or support tools under contract.

These providers process data on our instructions and subject to appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

7. Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated cloud data subject to technical and legal limits.

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• Object to or restrict certain processing;

10. Children

ClipChap is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or by email.
